Funeral Director


Beautiful Albuquerque has the year-round climate for a wonderful life with affordable housing and amenities that give it a small town/big city flavor. Salazar Funeral Homes & Crematory is looking for an experienced licensed funeral director/embalmer in Albuquerque, New Mexico  to join their family. There are two locations within six miles of each other with the crematory situated in one of the locations. We are seeking a licensed funeral director/embalmer who has the passion for helping people, a heart of compassion and hospitality, dignity for the deceased and dedication to exceptional funeral service. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining a premier level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities and essential funeral director/embalmer functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Meet with client families to make funeral arrangements; present and explain service options; and assist with all aspects of coordinating plans for all burial and cremation plans.
  • Personalize and create services as unique as each family that we serve.
  • Perform technical and cosmological embalming service and maintain cleanliness of preparation room and equipment--use of PPE and Universal Precautions appropriately and as directed.
  • Direct funeral services, visitations, or may assist with services while not acting as the primary director.
  • Maintain and demonstrate of a HIGH standard of professionalism at all times including their physical appearance with a formal business suit and grooming.
  • Make removals (transfers) from place of death and transport the deceased to the funeral home.
  • Participate frequently in open and effective communications with staff and client families.
  • Must be willing to work nighttime, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
  • Perform all other related functions as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Funeral Service Practitioner’s License with ability to obtain NM license
  • Valid Driver’s License and a Safe Driving Record (will be verified prior to employment)
  • Attention to detail a MUST
  • Both written and verbal communication is critical
  • Computer proficiency is a Must
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. or more
  • Reliable transportation on short notice to a variety of locations
  • Ability to remain drug or alcohol free for the duration of shift (random drug/alcohol testing performed continuously)
