Anastacio “Nash, Brother” Torres “ died peacefully, surrounded by family on April 20, 2019 in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 76.
Nash is one of eight children: five sisters, two brothers, eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. Nash was a loving father of 5 children: 3 sons, 2 daughters: Conrad ( Darlene) Torres, Ronald (Ana-Lisa) Torres, Deanne (Brian) Smith, Monica (Victor) Trujillo, Nash (Desirae) Torres
Nash is survived by siblings: Rosemary and Paul Mora, Lydia Lares, Maryagnes “Mickey” and Paul Chavez, Loraine Harding, and Lawrence Torres. He is preceded in death by his parents: Anastacio Torres and Piedad Torres, and siblings: Andrew Torres, Piedad (Baca Torres) Aragon AKA “Sister.”
Nash was born on September 18, 1942 in Socorro, NM to Anastacio Torres and Piedad (Baca) Torres . Nash was an army veteran who served in the Korean war. He graduated from The University of Albuquerque with a BS in Education (1973), MPA (1977) and a BA Special Education (1990). He obtained his EDs in Special Education from UNM in Albuquerque, NM. Nash had an exciting carreer in politcs, as an accomplished entrepreneur and as an elementary special education teacher. His children remember him as a driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He was a loving individual who loved politics and who loved to travel.
Nash's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Thursday, April 25th at Salazar Mortuary at 12 noon followed by a Catholic Service at 1:00 p.m. A reception in his honor will be at the Post 99. A graveside service with military honors will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, April 26th at 9:45am.
