Marylouise Sandoval Obituary

Marylouise Sandoval went to be with our Lord on September 4, 2018.

Marylouise was born in Amarillo, Texas on September 22, 1936 to Gustavo and Carmen Valdivia Rodriguez.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sisters Gloria Moore, Marguerita(Maggie) Brown, Rosemary Romero and Mary Pauline Garcia.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 30 years, Damian Sandoval,  sisters Carmen Chavez, Lucille Gonzales, and Julia Rodriguez; brothers Gus Rodriguez, George Rodriguez and Frank Rodriguez; daughter Victoria Cederberg (née Romero) and husband Rich Cederberg, grandchildren Adrian, Gabriel and Elizabeth; daughter Suzanne Romero and grandson Kaleb Wickersham; and son Andrew Romero and wife Sarah.

Marylouise and her family moved from Amarillo to Albuquerque with the railroads in the early 1940's and resided in the Barelas neighborhood on Hazeldine Ave.  Marylouise would often talk about the carnivals at the Barelas community center and the zoo and how she remembered hearing the animals.  She and her brothers and sisters would walk past Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she made her First Holy Communion to attend school at the old Albuquerque High School where she graduated in 1955 with dreams of becoming a commercial artist.  Marylouise and her brothers and sisters are memorialized in bricks on the patio of the old Albuquerque High.

Marylouise was incredibly knowledgeable and hard working in everything task she took on.  After a failed first marriage, she became a single mother to her three children and continued to provide and care for them regardless of the situation. She worked for Mountain Bell, Bernalillo County, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico/Colorado and Lovelace Insurance. While employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, Marylouise received countless awards for her sales abilities. Remarkably, she was also an expert seamstress and made and fashioned many of the wedding gowns worn by friends and family members.

Marylouise's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 8:15 a.m. at St. Josephs on the Rio Grande Catholic Church located at 5901 St Josephs Dr NW 87120.
