Regina Griego Obituary

On Sunday, December 15, 2019 our beloved mother Regina Griego went to her heavenly home to be with her Savior Jesus.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents Emilia & Enrique Sanchez. Unfortunately our mother also lost her husband Felipe Griego at the tender age of 57, on Christmas Day in 1991, her youngest son Pat in 2010, son Robert in 2011, and her grand daughter (Robert's eldest daughter) Veronica Griego Hardesty in 2013.

Our mother was the daughter of Emilia and Enrique Sanchez born in Punta de Agua, N.M. on November 10, 1937. Mom later married her friend, the love of her life Felipe Griego who was also from Punta de Agua, N.M. Together they started their family and had five children - Diane Griego Medina, Leroy Griego, Robert Griego, Joann Griego Callahan, and Patrick Griego.

Mom is survived by her daughters Diane Griego Medina and husband Mel, Joann Griego Callahan, husband Kevin, son Leroy Griego; eldest brother Mel Sanchez, sisters Ramona Mosely and husband George, Tina Roybal and husband Joe, Angie Sanchez, and youngest brother Rudy Sanchez. Mom is also survived by her daughter-in-law Gerri Griego, grandchildren - Roberta Griego, Evalena Griego, Ambyre Callahan, Medina and husband Matthew, Matty Medina, and Augustus Medina. Great grandchildren - Jacob, Jaden, Amaya, Melachi (Melli), twins Josh and Zach, Ruby, Christian, Eden, and Zechariah Diego.

Our mother was a very strong willed, loving, caring, wise, witty, hard working lady filled with endless energy and vigor. She enjoyed conversations with her family, cousins, long-time friends, or whomever called her on the phone or stopped by to visit. She loved staying in touch with everyone. She enjoyed shopping and eating out with her family and having her family over for meals. She took pride in all her activities whether it was simple housekeeping, tending to all her plants inside and throughout her beautiful yard, shopping, baking, or cooking her favorite delicious meals. Our mom made the best homemade tortillas & bread, the tastiest burgers, delicious red and green chile, and complimented her meals with delicious baked goodies. Our holiday meals were quite tasty and was a festive fun time around the Griego house.

We were privileged to have had our mother all these years. She instilled good Godly values in all of us. She  valued the importance of faith in God, hard work, integrity, honesty, and doing things the right way. In her last days she made it a point to commend and bless each of her children, grand children, great grandchildren. We will miss our Mom and will treasure our memories as long as we live.
