Andy was born on September 26, 1953, to Manuel and Vitalia Anaya in Socorro, New Mexico, where he was raised and built the strong values that guided him throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to public service, working for the Department of Energy and later the Veterans Affairs before retiring. Andrew embraced life with enthusiasm and purpose. He found joy in running marathons, hiking the trails of the Sandia Mountains, listening to his extensive vinyl collection of music, driving his beloved Trans Am, staying active through fitness, and later in life discovered a passion for charcoal drawing.
