Anthony Padilla

December 3, 1960 — January 1, 2025

Anthony Padilla, cherished father and respected businessman, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a brief illness.

He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Trinie Padilla, respectively, loving wife Anna M. Padilla and numerous brothers and sisters.

Anthony is survived by his daughter Anthonette; son Daniel (wife Monica); grandchildren: Isaiah (wife Shanice), Daniel Jr., Isis, Dominic (wife Karyme); great-grandsons: Rocky, Dominic a.k.a DJ, as well as many nieces, nephews and God-children.

Anthony was born in Belen, New Mexico and was one of 18 children. Though of humble beginnings, he built a successful cultured marble shop, one of the largest in Albuquerque. Even as a youngster he showed an entrepreneurial spirit. His brother Felipe recalled that as children, they carried shovels and pulled a wagon around the neighborhood to clean yards for their neighbors.
He was a tough, but fair boss. He could lose his temper and fire one of his guys on a Tuesday, but that guy would be back to work the next Monday. He always cared for and had a soft spot for those he considered his friends.

Anthony worked hard every day but also took pleasure in simple things like a good bowl of beans and chile, cruising around while listening to music or going out to breakfast or lunch with colleagues. He really shined as a father and family man. He loved his children and grandchildren so much. He instilled in them an unshakable work ethic and the idea to always strive to be great and do more. He was always there for his extended family and his friends. People, even colleagues and customers, knew he was a man of his word.

Anthony’s Life Celebration will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 2:30pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St SW, 87102. Anthony will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
