Carlos J. Tafoya

Carlos J. Tafoya, 91, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, surrounded by family.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice Tafoya, parents Jose and Celestina Tafoya.

Carlos is survived by two sisters: Gloria and husband Nelson Vigil, Margaret and husband Henry Valerio; two daughters: Charlene Tafoya-Chavez, Lynette Tafoya-Baraza and husband Matthew; three sons: Mario Tafoya and wife Connie, Jerry Tafoya and wife Dolores, Christopher Tafoya and wife Melissa, his companion Margarita Rascon, seven grandkids, and three great -grandkids.

Carlos was born on April 27, 1934, in Black Lake, New Mexico

Carlos' Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 8:00am at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Rosary will be recited at 9:00am. Service will begin at 9:30am. Carlos will be laid to rest following the Service at Pajarito Cemetery located at 5807 Coors Blvd SW. Reception will follow at Salazar Mortuary Event Center located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102.

Pallbearers will be Carlos Guereca, Miguel Alderete, Mario JR Tafoya, Danny Tafoya, Lawrence Tafoya, and Josiah Lucero.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Tafoya, Lynette Tafoya-Baraza, Raylyn Tafoya, Unjelika Alderete, Tonya Chavez, Heavenly Baraza, Estevan Baraza, and AJ Coca.
