Corrine L. Garcia

With deep sadness, the family of Corrine L. Garcia shares that she passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Corrine was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and her husband Willie Garcia. 

She is survived by her children: Albert (Charlita), Bertha (Paul), Ramona (Ray), Johnny, 11 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Corrine was born on January 25, 1931. The third of twelve children born to David and Bernadette Lucero, Corrine grew up in her family’s modest home in La Joya (Glorieta), New Mexico. In her late teens, she moved to Santa Fe to join her two older sisters and married Albert Salas at age 19. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Redondo Beach, California. 

Missing her family, friends, and New Mexico, Corrine soon returned home. Not long after returning to Santa Fe, she met Willie Garcia, a wonderful man who treated her like a queen and later became her husband. They shared their life together until his passing at age 62. 

A loving mother of four, Corrine lived a full and devoted life. She cherished Friday evening “bean nights,” when her children and grandchildren gathered around her table. She also enjoyed New Mexican music, visits to the senior center, time with friends, and polka dancing with Ernie. Corrine volunteered for many years at the North Fourth Senior Center and worked for APS as an elementary school crossing guard. She was always ready for an outing with family or friends. 

A devout Catholic, Corrine attended church daily until she was no longer able. Her life centered on family, friendship, faith, and the memories she created with those she loved. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Corrine's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 5:00pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm. Refreshments will be served at 6:30pm inside Salazar Mortuary's Event Center. Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 9:30am at Cristo Rey Catholic Church located at 1107 Cristo Rey St., 87501. She will then be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N Guadalupe St., 87501. Reception to share a meal with the family will follow the burial at Cristo Rey Catholic Church's Parish Hall.
