Cruz R. Sanchez

July 23, 1947 — June 15, 2025

Cruz R. Sanchez, born on July 23, 1947, in the vibrant heart of New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents Conrado and Maria de la Luz Chavarria, brothers: Roberto, Ernesto, Alfredo; sisters: Petra, Avelina, Juana; and granddaughter Ariana.

Cruz is survived by her three children: Rebecca Rendon de Gonzales (Dan), Raquel Rendon Marco (Tony), Jon-Eric Sanchez (Carly); six grandchildren: Jared Rendon Trompak, Jacintha Calderon, Sheehan Gonzales, Estefan Gonzales, Ethan Sanchez, Charlie Sanchez; great-grandson Miles Rendon Trompak. She also leaves behind brothers: Frank, Junior, as well as her closest sister Irene.

A devoted social worker for the state of New Mexico, Cruz dedicated her life to uplifting others, embodying compassion and dedication in every aspect of her work. Cruz found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for dancing that brought vivacity to her spirit, and her garden was a testament to her nurturing nature. Known for her affinity for country and Tex-Mex music, she often found herself lost in the melodies that resonated with her soul. Her love for Snickers and Coke was a delightful quirk that often brought smiles to the faces of her family and friends.

A proud resident of both Hobbs and Carlsbad, Cruz deeply cherished her roots in New Mexico. As a devout Catholic, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through both challenging and prosperous times. Church activities and her devotion to family were paramount to her, but perhaps her greatest pride came from being a grandmother. The joy her grandchildren brought her was immeasurable, and she poured her heart into every cherished moment spent with them.

Cruz also took pride in being the baby of her family, and she often reflected on her educational journey as a significant accomplishment in her life. A strong and independent woman, she displayed unwavering resolve and determination—a trait that endeared her to those fortunate enough to call her a friend. Among these friends were Sandy and Jan, with whom she shared countless memories.

Cruz's legacy will live on in the warm memories she created and the lives she touched. Her combination of faith, familial love, and relentless determination made her an inspiration to all who knew her. As we remember Cruz R. Sanchez, we celebrate a remarkable life filled with passion, commitment, and heartfelt love for her family and community.
