D. Drake Lauscher went to be with our Lord, Jesus, on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the age of 25.
Drake is survived by his father Dennis Michael Lauscher; mother Janine Eva-Louise Nobel Lauscher; brother Michael Sage Lauscher; grandparents: Fred Nobel, Rosalie Nobel, Doreen Lauscher, Mike Lauscher; uncles: Andrew Nobel, Brad Lauscher; and cousin Justin Lauscher.
Drake always enjoyed school and aspired to be a teacher since the 4th grade. The favorite location where he'd lived, as a child of a father in the Military, was Okinawa, Japan. He had always been an exceptional writer. He loved books and kept all cards and letters from his loved ones. He treasured the written word, especially ones so personal. He'd worked in the pizza business before and after college and was quite deft in the kitchen. He created music via his computer as well as organized and performed in shows. At age 15 he attained the level of Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Although we were proud of his accomplishments, we just loved who he was: an unforgettable soul.
This next memory is from a favorite teacher he had while at Our Lady of the Sandias Catholic Church:
Memories of Drake
I met Drake several years ago as he was enrolled in my Confirmation class at Kirtland Air Force Base. That first day, he very respectfully told me that he didn't want to be there but his parents insisted. I told him that I understood but we should both try to make the best of it. Then it started........almost every week he would appear with a different color hair. He had orange, blue, green, purple and my personal favorite, turquoise! When I asked him, "Why?", he answered, "because this is who I am." Oh no....he was so much more...he was brilliant! His manner was quiet and introspective. His questions were deep and profound. He told me that he wanted to be a high school teacher and he would have made a good one but Covid interrupted his college plans just as it has upset so many others.
So we don't have to worry about Drake because just as we hold him in our hearts, God is holding him in His arms. Rest in Peace dear Drake.
Please keep our Drake's soul in your prayers. Pray for him and to him. We hope he is where we all want to be, with our Father in heaven.
