Elsa Cruz, born in Puerto Rico on March 24, 1950, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico . Elsa's honest smile and radiant beauty illuminated the lives of many, creating an everlasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lucho, parents Fausto and Juana, brother Osvaldo, sister Nilda, and niece Marieli.
Elsa is survived by her son Francisco Javier Quiros, and sisters Norma, Nereida, Marie, Rosita and Carmen.
Elsa was a devout Catholic, giving testimony of her faith with her actions. She found solace in her beliefs and was committed to helping those in need. Those who knew her admired her intelligence and honesty. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and a loyal friend. She was also an exceptional mother to her son, whose warmth and love created a nurturing environment for him. Her commitment to family extended to her beloved nieces and nephews, whom she cherished deeply, often making time to celebrate their milestones and ensuring they felt supported and valued. As a physical therapist, she was highly admired for her professional skills and her dedication and compassion for those she served.
She possessed a deep passion for the arts, frequently attending Broadway shows and musicals, immersing herself in the magic they provided. An avid lover of fine dining, Elsa enjoyed having meals with friends and family. A passionate world traveler, she explored diverse cultures with an open heart. Her frequent travels and exposure to such diversity deeply enriched her life.
Fate took Elsa out of Puerto Rico, but it could not take Puerto Rico out of Elsa. She loved Puerto Rico and everything Puerto Rican. She was proud of her heritage and loved its music and dancing. At the same time she was grateful and felt very fortunate to have found, along with her son, a second home in New Mexico, where she always felt welcome and loved.
She leaves a rich legacy defined by her compassion, her vibrant spirit, her sense of humor and her enduring love for others. As we remember Elsa Cruz, we celebrate a life beautifully lived, one that touched countless hearts and will be remembered fondly by all.
Elsa’s Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Reflections Chapel located at 2400 Washington St NE, 87110. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church located at 5310 Claremont Ave NE, 87110.
Pallbearers will be Enoc Diaz Cruz, Juan Alejandro Cruz, Jose Vega, Ezequiel Arvizu, and Augustin Arvizu.
