Fabiola "Fab" Tafoya

Fabiola "Fab" Tafoya, a cherished matriarch full of love and strength, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the age of 92, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her husband Max Tafoya, son George Tafoya, daughter in-law Tina Tafoya, and step-great-granddaughter Majestik Tafoya.

Fab is survived by her son Luis Tafoya (Debra), daughter Cindy Gutierrez (Ricky); four step-grandkids: Michelle (Samantha), Phillip (Kristin), Angela (Sergio), Maryah (Jon); five step-great-grandkids, and two step-great-great grand kids.

She was born on March 4, 1933 in the mountain town of La Madera, New Mexico. Throughout her life Fab was devoted to her family, and was a loving and generous woman. 

Fabiola, affectionately known as "Fab" by those who knew her best, was a woman who loved New Mexico, and California. She was a person of many interests and talents, she found joy in the daily crossword puzzles and the occasional thrill of the casino. She loved a good steak at her favorite restaurant Longhorn Steakhouse. A true fan at heart, Fabiola cheered for the 49ers and the Dodgers, and rarely missed a game.

As a great cook, Fabiola's kitchen was the heart of her home, where aromas of her delicious meals would welcome family and friends. She loved bringing people together around the kitchen table. 

Fabiola's purpose in life was crystal clear—to be a loving mom and a steadfast provider. Her home was a treasure trove of memories from photographs to greeting cards, from party invitations to the magnets on her refrigerator, each telling a story of moments she held dear. 

Known for her kind heart, Fabiola was always ready to help anyone in need. Her kindness extended beyond her family, touching the lives of friends and even strangers. 

Today, as we reflect on the life of Fabiola "Fab" Tafoya, we are reminded of the impact one person can have on the lives of many. Her memory will be cherished and her legacy will live on through the generations she has shaped with her love and guidance. Fabiola's story is not one of an end, but a continuing narrative of love, family, and the enduring bonds that she has created. 

Fabiola "Fab" Tafoya's life was one filled with love, perseverance, and joy. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her. As we say farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her light will forever shine in the hearts of her beloved family and all who cherished her.

Fab’s Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 8:00am a Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church located at 9502 4th St. NW, 87114. Mass will begin at 9:00am. Fabiola will be laid to rest with her husband and son following the Mass at San Carlos Cemetery located at 4300 Alameda Path, 87113.

Pallbearers will be Frank Gabaldon, Anthony Gabaldon, Nicolas Gabaldon, and Jordan Perea.
