Fred Williams

April 14, 1952 — March 22, 2024

Fred Williams, a man known for his humor, boundless love, and selflessness, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 71.

He was preceded in death by his mom Mary Nava Williams, and two brothers: Ronnie Williams and Jimmy Williams.

Fred is survived by his sisters: Carroll Carlson, Clara Money, niece Maria Williams Romero, nephew Tomas Williams; along with many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Fred was born on April 14, 1952, in Santa Fe New Mexico. Fred's life was one rich with laughter, music, and a treasure trove of curiosities collected from his many walks with his beloved dog and best friend Rascal through the heart of downtown Albuquerque.

Fred's penchant for saving everything he found interesting created a tapestry of memories and stories that he loved to share with anyone who had a moment to listen. His home was an eclectic museum of life's simple joys, each item a testament to his curious nature and his ability to find beauty in the most unexpected places.

A lover of all music genres, Fred's broad taste provided a soundtrack to the lives of all who knew him. Whether it was a soulful ballad or an upbeat rock anthem, Fred believed that music was the language of the soul, and he embraced it in all its forms.

His passion for music and family was matched only by his love for authentic New Mexican cuisine, especially tamales and red chile enchiladas.

Fred's greatest success and source of pride came not from any career achievement, but from the role he played in helping to raise his niece Maria and nephew Tomás. He poured his heart and soul into their upbringing, guiding them with a stern hand and an open heart, and leaving an indelible mark on their lives.

Always seeking to have a good time and share a laugh, Fred's presence was a light in his loved one’s lives. His love for a rum and coke, paired with a classic western movie, was a simple pleasure that spoke to his desire for the good things in life – good company, good drinks, and good stories.

Fred's legacy is one of laughter, love, and selflessness. He lived his life with a sense of wonder and an unquenchable thirst for joy. Those who knew him will remember his infectious laugh, his warm embrace, and his unwavering commitment to making the most of every moment.

As we say goodbye to Fred Williams, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us to find happiness in the small things, to cherish our loved ones, and to always keep laughter close at hand. Fred will be dearly missed, but the memories he created will forever be treasured in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. We raise a glass of rum and coke to Fred.
