Obituary

Gloria V. Bazan, a cherished figure known for her infectious generosity and humor, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Mary Sandoval, son Brett D. Rosenau, and grandson Brett Rosenau.

Gloria is survived by her two children: Andrea Romero and husband Ray, Anthony Bazan and wife Felisha, eight grandchildren: Harley Bazan, Mario Trujillo, DJ Torres, Keanu Rosenau, Sonya Bazan, Gabriel Bazan, Vanessa Bazan, Veronica Bazan, four great-grandchildren: Arianna Jiron, Ezra Trujillo, Landon Trujillo and Mario Trujillo, one brother and three sisters: Viola and husband Al Montoya, Ernest Sandoval and wife Jennifer, Sally Baca and husband Ray, and Betty Baca.

Gloria, whose life began on February 19, 1952, in the same vibrant city, spent her 73 years imbuing the lives of those around her with joy, laughter, and memorable moments.

A proud graduate of West Mesa High School, Gloria's work ethic was nothing short of inspiring.

She dedicated many years of service to Levi Strauss, Sandia Casino, Walgreens, and Big Lots where she was not only known for her diligence but also for her ability to juggle multiple responsibilities with grace.

Always a hard worker, she often held two jobs, ensuring she provided not just for her needs but also had the means to indulge in her love for gift-giving and decorating for the holidays.

Gloria's home was a reflection of her spirit, with every corner echoing her interests and passions.

Her yard was a testament to her love for the outdoors, where she could ensure that her little oasis flourished under her care.

Inside, her nails were always impeccably done, a small but significant reminder of her belief in taking pride in one's appearance and the joy of self-care with her ruby red lipstick.

Gloria was famous for her delicious biscochitos that was handed down by her beloved mother. She took pride and joy in bringing family and friends together and left them yearning for more. Gloria's home was also a treasure trove of trinkets, each piece carefully selected to represent her love for palm trees and geckos, creating an environment that was uniquely hers. Her fish tank, a tranquil corner of living art.

Though she was known to be bossy and ornery at times, it was these traits that often brought bursts of laughter and candid joy to those around her. Gloria's frankness and directness were endearing qualities that her friends and family came to expect and love. Her legacy of generosity and humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Gloria's ability to find the funny side of life, to give without expecting anything in return, and to work tirelessly for the benefit of her loved ones are qualities that will continue to inspire and guide us.

As we bid farewell to Gloria V. Bazan, we celebrate a life lived fully, with passion and a touch of sass. Her memory will be cherished, her stories retold with fondness, and her spirit will remain a guiding light in the lives of those she touched. Gloria's journey through life was as vibrant and spirited as the woman herself, and her impact will be felt for generations to come.

The family would like to thank Gilbert Bazan who has been a lifelong friend. He assisted Gloria in many ways. He maintained her yard and most importantly with her lawn that they both took great pride in. We thank you for all your work and support.

On behalf of the family we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Marina Garcia, (Gloria’s caregiver) for her outstanding compassion and support during a difficult period in Gloria’s life. We are grateful and appreciate you!

Gloria’s Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:00am at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Service will begin at 11:30am. Gloria and her son Brett will be laid to rest together following the service at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102.
