Helen Salas

Helen Salas, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the age of 92.

She is preceded by her husband William Salas, sons: Gary Salas, Jerry Salas, Jimmy Salas, grandson Andrew Salas, granddaughter Jerilynn Watrin, sisters: Sally Coca, and Elizabeth Garrison.

Helen is survived by her children: Larry Salas, Roberta Catron, Theresa Canamar; siblings: Edward Coca, Mary Ann Dean, Evelyn Baca, and Rosina Leyba. Helen has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Born on March 3, 1933, in Colorado, Helen spent her early years in the picturesque state until her family relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she would build a life rich in love and community.

Helen was known for her vibrant personality and her unwavering faith, which were central to her identity. She treasured the bonds of family and religion. Her dedication to her loved ones was evident in her nurturing nature and her ceaseless commitment to helping others, embodying a life purpose that touched many.

With a keen intellect and an adventurous spirit, Helen delighted in solving crossword puzzles that challenged her mind. She also found great joy in gardening, where she nurtured not only plants but also relationships, sharing the beauty of her blooms with friends and neighbors alike. Additionally, Helen had a passion for traveling abroad which added sparkle to her life.

Helen was an outgoing and faithful person, whose kindness left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her. In her presence, one could always find warmth, laughter, and an unwavering sense of gratitude for the simple joys of life.

Although she has passed, Helen Salas leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, & work ethic that will continue to inspire those who cherish her memory. Her life was a testament to the beauty of connection and the profound impact one dedicated individual can have on their community. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Helen's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church located on 3424 Fourth St NW, 87107 Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. also at Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church. Helen will be laid to rest following the Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery located on 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102.

Pallbearers will be Fabian Salas, Sr., DeVonté Montoya, Patrick Cota, Fabian Salas, Jr., Jelijah Trujillo, and Felix Gallegos.
