James R. Apodaca

April 3, 1949 — June 16, 2025

James R. Apodaca, born on April 3, 1949, left this world on Sunday, June 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Katherine Apodaca, father Edward Apodaca, and mother Katherine Charlotte Chavez.

James is survived by his children: Alyssa Apodaca and husband Timothy Chavez, Christopher and Renee Apodaca, Audra Apodaca and spouse Robert Griffin, also many grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

A devoted husband and father, James served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. His time in the military was not just a chapter in his life; it was a proud accomplishment that he cherished deeply.

James was a man of many passions. He found joy in simple but meaningful pleasures, from fishing excursions to delightful meals out with loved ones. He treasured moments spent camping with his wife and children, creating lasting memories that would serve as a foundation for his family's bonds. Above all, James was a devoted Christian whose purpose in life revolved around serving others and following the teachings of the Lord.

Known for his sense of humor and generous spirit, James touched the lives of many in his community. His love for New Mexican and oldies music was a beloved pastime, and he proudly supported the Lobos, showcasing his vibrant personality and enthusiasm for life. Even as a homebody, James embraced the comforts of family life, finding fulfillment in the time spent with his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He believed that his children were his greatest success, and he devoted his heart and soul to nurturing their dreams and aspirations.

James kept his military memorabilia close, a testament to his dedication and service. His legacy will not only be remembered through these belongings but also through the lives he influenced and the love he shared.

He lived a life rich in kindness, laughter, and unwavering faith, and as we celebrate his memory, we honor the remarkable man he was—an extraordinary husband, father, and friend whose spirit will forever endure in the hearts of those who loved him.
