Joann Tijerina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Joann was preceded in death by her husband David Reyes Tijerina, father Joe Sandoval, mother Lupe Sandoval, brother Sammy Sandoval and wife Denise Cleavinger.
She is survived by daughter Justina Anderson and son-in-law Kenny Anderson, brother Albert Sandoval and wife Maggie Sandoval, sister Cindy Candelaria and husband Walter Candelaria, also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Joann was born on April 23, 1948, in Clovis, New Mexico, Joann's life was a vibrant journey filled with laughter, music, and an unwavering dedication to her family.
Joann's zest for life was evident in her passion for traveling. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of a road trip, the excitement of Las Vegas, the tranquility of the beach, and the adventure of cruises. Her love for exploration was matched only by her love for music. Oldies, country, and the soulful tunes of Lonely Boys provided the soundtrack to many of her cherished moments.
A culinary enthusiast, Joann was renowned for her cooking, a skill she often showcased as the hostess of all parties. Her home was a hub of warmth and celebration, where friends and family gathered around delicious meals and shared stories. She had a particular fondness for dining out, always eager to discover new restaurants and savor different cuisines.
Joann's beloved dogs Lexi, Jackson, Brutus, and her cat Shadow were her constant companions. They were more than pets; they were her babies, and her home was filled with the joy and comfort they provided. Her daughter was the center of her world, and together with her pets, they formed the heart of her universe.
Professionally, Joann celebrated a significant milestone when she retired from Honeywell after 27 years of dedicated service. Her work ethic and commitment were a testament to her character, and her retirement marked the culmination of a successful career.
Above all, Joann's purpose in life was to be the best mom. She was the epitome of reliability, always there for her daughter and anyone in need, always answering her phone, no matter the time of day. Her caring nature extended beyond her immediate family, as she consistently performed thoughtful deeds for others, often without seeking recognition.
Her love for piñon, a symbol of her New Mexican heritage, was a small but meaningful pleasure that she cherished. Joann's sense of humor, loving heart, and thoughtfulness were the words that best described her. She had a unique ability to find humor in everyday situations, and her laughter was infectious.
Joann's legacy is one of unconditional love and selflessness. She left an indelible mark on the lives of those she touched, and her memory will continue to inspire and comfort her loved ones. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, the importance of family, and the joy of living each day to the fullest.

Joann’s life celebration will begin with a service on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Reflections Chapel located at 2400 Washington St. NE, 87110.
