John Leroy Saiz, 82, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, entered into eternal rest on May 18, 2026. Surrounded by the love of his family and embraced by God's grace, John passed peacefully from this life into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. While his family and friends mourn his passing, they take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
John was born on January 10, 1944, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was lovingly raised by his adoptive parents, Martha Morrison and John Saiz, whose love, guidance, and values helped shape the remarkable man he would become. Throughout his life, John embodied strength, integrity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
John proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an electrician. His military service was a source of great pride and reflected his commitment to duty, honor, and hard work. Following his service, he continued his career in telecommunications, working for Mountain Bell, which later became Quest. After many years of dedicated service, he retired from the company. Never one to stop working or helping others, John later started his own small phone repair business, advertising with nothing more than a magnet on the side of his truck. It was a simple business built on honesty, skill, and the trust he earned from those who knew him.
To know John was to know a man whose character left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was intelligent, hardworking, dependable, generous, and talented in countless ways. There seemed to be little that John could not fix, build, grow, or accomplish when he put his mind to it. He approached life with determination, humility, and a willingness to help others whenever he could.
One of John's greatest passions was football, and he remained a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan throughout his life. Whether celebrating victories or enduring defeats, he faithfully supported his team year after year.
Above all else, however, John's greatest love was his wife, Genevieve Saiz. Their marriage was built on love, friendship, loyalty, and unwavering devotion. She was the love of his life, his partner, and his closest companion. Those who knew them witnessed a bond that endured through life's joys and hardships alike. John loved Genevieve deeply and remained devoted to her until his final day.
His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy and pride. He treasured family gatherings, conversations, and the opportunity to watch future generations grow. Nothing mattered more to him than the people he loved, and he worked tirelessly throughout his life to provide for and support his family.
John also shared a special bond with his beloved dogs, Sparky, Lady, and Carl. These faithful companions remained by his side through many years, and he loved each of them dearly. Their loss deeply affected him because they were far more than pets—they were family.
Outside of work and family, John found peace in nature and took tremendous pride in caring for his yard and garden. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time outdoors nurturing the many plants and trees he lovingly cultivated over the years. His yard featured colorful rose bushes in shades of blue, purple, yellow, and pink, as well as grapes, melons, shrubs, grass, piñon trees, and apricot trees. His garden reflected the same patience, care, and dedication that he brought to every aspect of his life.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Genevieve Saiz; his daughters, Angela Lucero and Ernestine Currion; his son, Luke Saiz; his brothers and sisters; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dino Saiz, his beloved grandson, Phillip Saiz, and other cherished family members who have gone before him. His family finds comfort in imagining the joyful reunion that took place as Dino, Phillip, and his loved ones welcomed him home into Heaven.
Although John will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched. His strength, wisdom, humor, faith, and unconditional love will continue to inspire all who knew him. We take comfort in God's promise that death is not the end and that through faith we will one day be reunited with him.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
