Josephine "Sheffa" Griego

Josephine "Sheffa" Griego went to be in the presence of the Lord, on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the age of 86.

She was preceded in death by her parents Max Maestas and Louisa Rivera, daughter Cherie, son Glenn, grandson Carlos, granddaughter Josephine "Josie", daughter-in-law Danette, siblings: Albert, Susie, Rose, Robert, Juanita, Mary "Dew;" in-laws: Luis and Jesusita, Morris, Juana Cresella, Virginio, Perscilla, Polly, Mary, Dolorita, Dorothia, George, Justo, and Abel "Y".

Sheffa is survived by her husband Bernardo Griego, three sons: Bernie (Delia), Ruben (Berna), Jose "Justo" (Donna), daughter Mary "Commie" (Ben), 59 grandchildren including great and great-great-granchildren; sisters: Georgia, Cresella, brothers-in-law Ron, Junior, Mike; sisters-in-law: Prudy, Lila, Erlinda, and Molly.

At the age of 15, she married Bernardo Griego, and they were blessed with their six children.

She was devoted to Christ, and her family. She was a beloved daughter, Wife, Sister, Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, God-Mother, Aunt and Friend. Her compassion, love and support was never ending .

Although, we say farewell in her physical presence, we celebrate, a life, well lived and the beautiful, legacy she, leaves behind.

Josephine's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 3:00pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. Mass will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 9:00am at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church located at 5901 St. Josephs Drive NW, 87120. Josephine will be then laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery located 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, 87102. Reception will take place after burial at the Moose Lodge 2121 Edith Blvd NE Albuquerque NM 87102

Honorary pallbearers will be Sophia Hall, Cherie Griego, David Pando, Anthony Griego, and Omar Griego.
