Karen Jean Freberg, a longtime Albuquerque resident and devoted Lobo fan, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband Ken Freberg; sister: Susan Craycraft (Steve); Jeanette Henthorn; sister-in-law Glenda Freberg.
Born in Clovis, New Mexico, she was the daughter of LA and Wanda Johnston.
A pioneering woman in the early days of computing, Karen worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst. She never met a stranger, and her love for people drew them to her. She listened with genuine care, dressed with flair, and loved her bling. Always a beauty to behold, Karen was a bright light whose loss leaves the world a sadder place.
