Lucille Chavez

Lucille "Tillo" Chavez, born on April 11, 1942, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. 

She was a cherished member of her community and a devoted family member whose life was characterized by her unwavering love and dedication to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband William C. Chavez, parents Luis and Josephine Hernandez, siblings: Margret Zabrowski, Cecilia Padilla, Joseph and wife Ralpha Hernandez, Louisa and Alvin Farley, Frances and Wilfred Valdez, and many other family members. Tillo is also survived by several Godchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

For 48 years, Tillo shared her life with her late spouse, cultivating a partnership grounded in mutual respect and deep affection. Family meant everything to her and she found immense joy in giving her unconditional love and care to her family and friends. Tillo's compassion extended beyond her family; she was an active volunteer for her church, contributing her time and efforts to the church Fiestas, Bereavement, and Santero committees demonstrating her commitment to giving back and supporting those in need.

An artistic soul, Tillo delighted in painting, crafting, baking, cooking, and entertaining, skills that she enjoyed sharing with her loved ones. Her passion for puzzles also reflected her inquisitive nature and her ability to find joy in life's intricacies. She loved traveling to various places, especially to Laughlin, Nevada. Many will remember her for her strength, courage, and the bright shine of her faith, which guided her through both challenges and triumphs.

Tillo's spirit will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and devotion serves as a testament to the beautiful impact she made on her family and community. Though she has departed from this world, her memory will forever inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her remarkable life.

Tillo's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, 10:00 am at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church located at 2005 N Plaza St. NW, 87104. Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National National Cemetery in June.
