Lucy Gamboa, affectionately known as La Morena, left this world on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her mother Maria P. Gamboa.
Lucy is survived by her children: Ricky Parra-Gamboa, Elis Sanchez-Gamboa, Milexi Gamboa; father Benjamin Gamboa; siblings: Veronica Gamboa, Noemi Gamboa, Vince Gonzales, Ricardo Gamboa and Earlene, Willy Castillo; nephews and nieces: Araceli Gamboa, Vincente Gonzales, Desire Gonzales, Anthony Lujan, Julian Gamboa, Roman Bojorquez, Mariah Gamboa, Izabella Carrasco, Esparanza Gamboa; great-nieces and nephew: Dominic Lujan, Vincent Gonzales, Aziah Gonzales, Melayna Montes-Gamboa, and Evangeline L. Bojorquez.
Born on June 16, 1977 Lucy’s life was a vibrant reflection of her deep love for family and her many passions. A cherished daughter, sister, and devoted mother, Lucy’s greatest joy came from her children and her close-knit family, who continued to be the cornerstone of her life.
Throughout her years, Lucy was known for her open heart and generous spirit. She embraced life with enthusiasm, enjoying simple pleasures such as sleeping, reading, and cooking. Her love for food was matched by her culinary skills, and she often delighted friends and family with her delicious creations. An avid sports fan, Lucy enjoyed playing soccer in high school and spent many hours watching boxing and UFC, passionately cheering for her favorite athletes like Canelo.
Her compassion extended beyond her personal interests; Lucy dedicated a significant part of her life to helping others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her career reflected her nurturing nature and her desire to make a difference in the lives of those around her.
Lucy cherished her vacations with her family, creating unforgettable memories while visiting places like Juarez, Mexico, and various locations in Puerto Rico. These adventures were filled with moments of laughter, connection, and love, epitomizing her belief that family should always come first.
In addition to her many interests, Lucy had an ear for muisc and enjoyed fashion such dresses, shoes, and tons of jewelry, especially earrings; often sharing her unique style with those around her. Her warm personality and big heart touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Lucy Gamboa’s legacy will continue to live on through her beloved children, parents, and siblings, who were her pride and joy. Her family meant the world to her, and they will carry her memory forward with love and respect.
Lucy's Life Celebration will begin with a visitation on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 3:00pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St SW, 87102. Service will follow at 4:00pm. Lucy's kind spirit and loving memory will be remembered and celebrated by all who had the privilege to know her.
