Mickey Maldonado

Mickey Maldonado age 85, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Geraldine Estrada and son Jimmy Maldonado. They are all rejoicing together in Heaven.

She is survived by her sons: Michael Maldonado (Merillyn), Charlie Maldonado (Margie), Anthony Maldonado (Gaby); daughters: Pauline Gallegos (Rick), Grace Candelaria (widow), Debbie Vargas (Anton) and Sarah Gurule (widow). She had a five generation family: 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, her caregiver of six years was Patricia Coss, also daughter Sarah and granddaughter Sabrina. 

She was a devout Christian and loved Jesus so very much. She was a very strong woman that raised her nine children on her own. Life was tough, but she always made sure her children were taken care of and always said it's me and you against the world….

She was born to Ursenio and Elicia Paz on November 29, 1940. She worked cleaning motel rooms in her early life earning $35 per week and by God’s grace she always made sure her kids had food on the table. Then in 1970 she got a job at Presbyterian Hospital as a Housekeeper and retired after 20 years. She went on to another job at LSG SkyChefs preparing meals for the airlines. She loved that job and worked there till it closed due to COVID. 

She loved eating out with her family and was not picky, she was ready to go anytime she was invited. She loved going to the Casino, playing Bingo, working on crossword puzzles and watching the game shows on TV. She always said she learned a lot from them. She lived for her family and loved to have them over to visit. As the matriarch of the family she always ensured the family was together on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve.

Mama, you will be truly missed, you left your stamp in all our hearts!

Mickey's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10:00am at Reflections Chapel located at 2400 Washington St. NE, 87110. Service will begin at 11:00am. Mickey will be laid to rest at 1:00pm at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery located at 700 Yale Blvd SE, 87106.
