Maria Elena Theye

Maria Elena Theye went home to enjoy being in the presence of the Lord on Sunday, December 22, 2024.

Maria is survived by her husband Lonnie; children: Nathan, Jonathan, Andrea; daughters-in-law: Becky, Lindsey; grandchildren: Simon, Cody, Austin, Lanna, Justin; four grand-dogs. She loved her family, friends, and her Heavenly Father.

Maria was born in Raton, New Mexico on July 21, 1952. She enjoyed living most of her life in New Mexico.

Maria was a friend of God, having accepted Jesus as her savior at the age of ten years old. Her true passion was helping people and spreading the word of God, always looking for an opportunity to have a “faith” conversation.

Maria earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from NMSU. She worked as a teacher, social worker, oil painter, and managed her own mediation business. Maria was an accomplished oil painter who loved selling her work at the annual Contemporary Hispanic Market. She combined her love for New Mexico with her love for art by paintings scenes around the state – she published a book on Amazon showcasing many of her paintings with descriptions about the locations that inspired the paintings.

Maria got the most joy of her life by spending time with her children and spoiling her five grandchildren.

Maria's Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2:00pm at Christian Church of Los Alamos located at 92 E Rd., Los Alamos, NM 87544.
