Martha Cleveland, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Wife passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 77.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Angie Escarcida, brother Gilbert J. Escarcida, daughter Elise Gomez, and mother-in-law Nellie Cleveland.
Martha is survived by her husband Deacon Larry Cleveland; granddaughters Isabel Lockwood and husband Daniel, Marisol Gomez, Ursula Adkins, as well as her sister GeraldineAnderson.
Born August 27, 1948, in Algodones, New Mexico, Martha’s strong faith and selfless heart left an impression on anyone that crossed her path. She was a deeply loving mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted wife. Her love for education, and her faith was pertinent in her willingness to help others. Possessing a strong and resilient personality - Martha was a pillar in her community and career path.
Martha’s Catholic faith was the foundation to her life, spreading this teaching to others, by giving what she could — using her enlightenment, love for baking, and arts and crafts. Always contributing to those in need. Her memory will leave a lasting impression on us, inspiring and comforting all who knew her. Each of us carrying apart of her, not only in our memories but in how we treat ourselves and others. As we say our goodbyes we celebrate a life lived with strength, love, and passion.
Martha's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 9:00am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church located at 5310 Claremont Ave NE, 87110. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102.
