Obituary

The Gates of Heaven opened up on Saturday, June 8, 2024, welcoming a beautiful soul, Nicanora Romo Fullbright, with Donna and Albert at her side. She will be missed by those of us who remain in commitment to her devout Catholic faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Ricardo and Mauricia (Valdez) Romo; husband Donald Fullbright; siblings: Richard Romo, Kate Trujillo, Lucy Torres and Louella Romero; and son-in-law Jim Emsing.

Nicki is survived by her children: Donna Torres and Albert Torres; Don's children: Donna Fullbright Ramp (John), Ginny Fullbright (Gale), Steve Fullbright (Colleen), Patrick Fullbright (Tammy); sister Gloria Ortiz (Paul), brother Albert Romo (Virginia);  also numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, including her special nephew Ricardo Torres-Tenorio whom she helped raise.  Her faithful companion Sparky will miss her forever. Nicki was loved by so many which is evident by the life-long friendships she had.

Nicki, as she was affectionally known by all who loved her, was born on January 1, 1938, in Mora, New Mexico to Ricardo and Mauricia (Valdez) Romo. She was the sixth of seven children.

In 1971, Nicki married Donald Fullbright. They were married for 47 years until his passing in 2017. During their marriage, they had many adventures. Some of their most enjoyable memories were traveling the country, camping, boating and car racing.

Nicki retired from Sears in 1999 after 35 years. She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. Cooking was a joy for her. Everyone looked forward to her enchilada and posole dinners and she was known for her delicious biscochitos. She was always a gracious hostess. One of her favorite hobbies was making rosaries, which she gave to all her family and friends.

Nicanora's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 6:00 pm at Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church located at  3424 4th St. NW, 87107. Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 9:00 am also at Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church. Reception will follow the mass in the parish hall.
