Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Nora Campos announces her passing on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

Nora was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Ignacio Campos, oldest son William; siblings: Flora Lucero, Felonis Sandoval, Mary Sandoval, Sara Montoya, Elizabeth Vigil, Pat Sandoval, and Frank Sandoval.

Nora is survived by her sister Lucille Trujillo of California; son Benny Campos (Samantha) of Albuquerque; daughters: Pauline Duran (Arthur), Erma McDonald (David), also of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Glen, Andrea, Amber, Rendee, Brett; great-grandchildren: Joseph, Briana, Isaiah, Michael, Alex, Amanda, Zoe, Esparanza, Veronica, Lorenzo; great-great grandchildren: Caden, Miles, Anakin, Asaiah, Amera, and three on the way.

Born in beautiful El Carmen, New Mexico, on October 15, 1928, she was one of nine children raised by Nazario and Sorida Sandoval. Her fond memories of corn harvests, little chickens, and church dances brought smiles and laughs in her later years. She married Ignacio Campos, and they relocated to Wyoming. After welcoming four children to their Wyoming home, they loaded up and headed south to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they were closer to family and the winters were less harsh.

Nora was a woman of quiet strength and gentle spirit. She will often be remembered for her love of gallivanting with her sisters, reading tirelessly into the night, and making her famous red chile and mashed potatoes for family gatherings. Additionally, Nora had a green thumb and grew the prettiest flowers on her block.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to Bear Canyon Rehabilitation Center and Gentiva Hospice for the care and compassion they provided to Nora.
