Peter J. Barreras, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 82.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sally Barreras, mother Anita Barreras, three brothers, and several other family members.

Peter is survived by her daughter Olivia Jiron and husband Christopher Jiron, grandson Eric Barreras-Mieras, granddaughter Erna Barreras, brothers and sisters: Flora Gallegos, Ronnie Archibeque, Chris Barreras, Debbie Barreras, Annette Aragon, and Antoinette Barreras.

Born on September 26, 1942, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Peter lived a full life marked by dedication, humor, and love for his family. His presence in our lives was a source of joy and strength, and his memory will be cherished forever.

Peter was a man who found pleasure in the simple things. He was an avid fisherman, often found by the riverbank, patiently waiting for the next big catch. His love for the thrill of the casino was well known among his friends and family, and his laughter could light up even the dimmest of rooms. He had an undeniable passion for New Mexican Spanish music, and his feet would tap to the rhythm of a favorite tune, a smile always ready to share.

His culinary tastes were a testament to his heritage and love for his roots. Peter had an insatiable appetite for red chile and green chile stew, dishes that warmed the heart as much as they tantalized the taste buds. Azul, his favorite restaurant, was a frequent stop, where he would indulge in the flavors he so loved and share meals with those dearest to him.

In his younger days, Peter was an active softball player, a sport he continued to enjoy as a spectator long after he hung up his glove. His enthusiasm for baseball and softball was infectious, and he cherished the camaraderie and excitement that came with every game.

Peter's work ethic was unparalleled. A hard worker all his life, he dedicated himself to providing for and taking care of his family, a commitment that allowed him to retire early at the age of 50. This achievement was a testament to his diligence and foresight, and it afforded him many years to enjoy his interests and time with loved ones.

Those who knew Peter will remember him as a funny, loving, and stubborn man. His humor was a gift that kept on giving, and his love was a blanket that kept us warm. His stubbornness, a trait that he wore like a badge of honor, was also a source of gentle amusement for his family and friends.

As we bid farewell to Peter J. Barreras, we reflect on a life well-lived, a journey of love, laughter, and dedication. His legacy is one of joy, hard work, and the unwavering support of the family he adored. Peter's spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the memories we shared will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Rest in peace, Peter. Your life was a treasure, and your memory a keepsake.
