Rebecca Carlota Valdez Marlowe, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; sister Jeanette Valdez; and brother Joseph David Valdez.
She is survived by her sisters: Rosemary Maes and her husband John, sister Kelly Valdez Ayres and her husband Bob; children: Gregg Marlowe and Nicole Quinlan and her husband Robert; grandchildren: Connor Quinlan, Jordan and his wife Tessa Quinlan; and great-grandchildren: Suzanne, Quinlan, Daphne Quinlan.
Generous of heart and compassion, Rebecca saw, found, developed, and nurtured the best in her children, her family, her friends, and her students. A lifelong teacher, Ms. Marlowe strived to find the best way to reach and spark each student’s special interests, gifts and talents. Her legacy lives on in the countless students she guided and the community she helped flourish and build.
Born in Albuquerque on June 12, 1937, to Joe L. and Rosemary Valdez, Rebecca’s life was an unwavering commitment to her family, community and Country. In the 1960’ and 70s, following her UNM degree in Theatre and acting in School Productions and Summer Stock she was a familiar and beloved face at the Albuquerque Little Theatre, and other local theatres. Her passion for the theater was felt by the entire cast, crew and audience.
Rebecca loved to travel and explore different cultures, especially every Church in every City. Rebecca found great joy in introducing and seeing the World through the eyes and experiences of her children and grandchildren.
Rebecca's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 9:30am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church located at 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, 87110. Mass will begin at 10:00am. Rebecca will be laid to rest following the Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102.
