Roberto was born on September 4, 1947, in Lomo De Cabrera, Dominican Republic. He was eight years old when he immigrated to the United States with his mother and younger brother in search of a better life. He grew up in New York City, the place he would always call home. The vibrant energy, culture, and diversity of the city laid the foundation for who he would become.

While growing up wasn't always easy, Roberto focused on sports and academics. From a young age, he developed a deep love and passion for Baseball. His talents earned him a baseball scholarship to Trinidad State College in Colorado, before he continued his education and athletic career at Eastern New Mexico University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Teacher Education. Roberto continued his studies and earned a Master’s Degree in History from The City College of New York (CCNY). He was the first in his family to graduate with a degree in higher education, a path his children later followed.

From the streets of Harlem to the streets of Wall Street, Roberto went on to build a successful career in the financial sector, retiring as the Vice President of Global Technology Infrastructure in the IBM Global Services Division at JPMorgan Chase. His work often took him to Asia and other parts of the world he had read about during his studies. His professionalism, leadership, and dedication left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the many people he mentored throughout his career.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Roberto was known for his zest for life. A die-hard New York Yankees fan, he never missed a game and proudly cheered for his team through every season. When he wasn't wearing his Yankee hat you’d find him sporting a fedora and ready to have a good time. He had an unmatched love for Latin music, disco, and dancing; whether at family gatherings or out with friends, Roberto could light up any room with his infectious smile and warm demeanor. Upon retirement, Roberto moved back to New Mexico to be close to his grandchildren who brought endless joy to his life.
