Rosa Irene Corral Torres

Beloved mother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, and friend, entered eternal rest with her Father in Heaven on March 28, 2026.

Rosa is preceded in death by her husband Fidel Torres; parents Sara and Silvano Corral; siblings: Irma Melendez, Genoveva Cortez, Guillermo Corral, Sr., Esther Garcia; niece and nephews: Irma Irene Melendez, Hector Corral, Guillermo Corral, Jr., and Fernando Sapién.

Rosa is lovingly remembered by her son Louie Torres of Albuquerque, daughter Sara (Lilly) Torres of Seattle, niece Rocio Olivera (Jorge) of Albuquerque, siblings: Victoria Sapien and Tina Rodarte (Oscar) of Chihuahua, MX, and Miguel Corral (Olga) of Mexico City, MX, cousins, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Rosa, 88, was born in El Salto, Durango, Mexico. Rosa spent most of her adult life in Gallup, NM, where she raised her children, Louie and Sara, and niece, Rocio, beside her husband, Fidel Torres, who preceded her in death.

Affectionately known as Rosita, she will be remembered by all who knew her for her striking beauty (the lady with the lovely blue/green eyes), lively sense of humor, and unforgettable dance moves. She was deeply devoted to her family—cherishing not only her children, nieces and nephews, but also the children of friends, whom she supported in pursuing their hopes and dreams.

Rosa was a devoted member of St. Francis Catholic Church and faithfully served her community for many years through Catholic Charities, including her volunteer work at Casa San Martin, for which she was treated to a grand trip around Europe, coincidentally in Italy at the time Pope John Paul II was elected.

In many ways, Rosa was ahead of her time. She embraced a healthy lifestyle and took great pride in caring for herself. She also knew the importance of joy - playing weekly bingo and joining in volleyball or softball games during family picnics and neighborhood gatherings. Rosita’s kindness extended beyond her family, as she regularly cared for and visited friends and neighbors, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Even as Alzheimer's gradually clouded her memories, the warmth of her love and clever wit remained in the moments she shared with family and close friends.

A private service will be held in Chihuahua, Mexico, in accordance with her wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosa’s memory to the Little Sisters of the Poor or St. Francis Catholic Church in Gallup, NM.

Recordamos a Rosa con cariño, especialmente su hijo, Luis Torres de Albuquerque, hija, Sara Lirio Torres de Seattle, sobrina, Rocío Olivera (Jorge) de Albuquerque, sus hermano/as Victoria Sapien, Tina Rodarte (Oscar) de Chihuahua, MX, y Miguel Corral (Olga) de la Ciudad de México, MX, primo/as, y sobrino/as.

Rosa, 88, nació en El Salto, Durango, México. Rosa pasó la mayoría de su vida en Gallup, NM, donde creó a sus hijos, Luis y Sara, y a su sobrina, Rocío, junto a su marido, Fidel Torres, quien la precedió en la muerte.

Conocida cariñosamente como Rosita, todos los que la conocían la recordarán por su impresionante belleza (la mujer de los preciosos ojos azul verdes), su sentido del humor y sus inolvidables pasos de baile. Estaba profundamente dedicada a su familia: no solo quería mucho a sus hijos, sobrinas y sobrinos, sino también a los hijos de sus amigos, a quienes animaba a perseguir sus sueños y esperanzas.

Rosa fue devotada a la Iglesia Católica de San Francisco. Sirvió a su comunidad durante muchos años a través de Caridades Católicas. De hecho, con su trabajo voluntario en la Casa San Martín, por lo cual se ganó un viaje a Europa, precisamente estuvo en Italia cuando fue elegido el papa Juan Pablo II.

En muchos sentidos, Rosa se adelantó a su tiempo. Adoptó un estilo de vida saludable y con mucho orgullo de cuidarse. También era consciente de la importancia de la alegría: jugaba al bingo varias veces a la semana y participaba en partidos de voleibol o sóftbol durante los picnics familiares y las reuniones vecinales. La amabilidad de Rosita se extendía más allá de su familia, ya que cuidaba y visitaba regularmente a amigos y vecinos, dejando una huella imborrable en quienes la conocían. Aunque el Alzheimer comenzó a alterar sus recuerdos, nunca le afectó el amor ni el ingenio en los momentos que compartió con su familia y sus queridos amigos.

Se tendrá un servicio privado en Chihuahua, México, por deseo de Rosa. En lugar de flores, se pueden hacer donativos en memoria de Rosa a Villa Guadalupe (Little Sisters of the Poor) o la Iglesia de San Francisco de Gallup, NM.
