Silas T. Padilla

Silas T. Padilla, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, July 25, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 86. Known for his deep faith, quick wit, and sharp mind, Silas lived a life rich with love, laughter, and purpose.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents Eusebio and Guadalupe Padilla; brothers: Alvin Padilla, Adam Padilla; his cherished children: Andy Trujillo, and Dolores Mora.

Silas leaves behind his devoted wife Tonie Padilla, who is the love of his life and constant companion, daughters: Lydia Martinez and her husband Fred, Lupe Lopez and her husband Paul, Rosa Chavez and her husband Jerry, Valerie Tateyama; sons: Raymond Trujillo and his wife Shannon, Richard Trujillo and his wife Paula, Albert Padilla; two sisters Lisa Padilla, and Naomi Mirabal and her husband Junior. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply loved by him and are a testament to the strength of his legacy.

Born on June 2, 1939, in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Silas's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with devotion to family, passion for community, and a love for the simple joys of life.

A man of many passions, Silas found great joy in classic cars and lowriders. His hands were rarely still, he could often be found working on a car, tending his flowers, or playing his guitar while listening to corridos. He cherished quiet evenings spent on the porch with his vieja, simply enjoying each other’s company and the peace of the evening.

Nothing brought him more joy than sharing a meal, especially his famous STP special chile or a simple plate of beans and red chile, with family gathered around. Silas appreciated the comfort of homemade meals, but also enjoyed dining out at local favorites like Little Anita’s and Los Cuates. Whether at the dinner table or a restaurant booth, time with Silas was filled with easy conversation, laughter, and stories that brought people closer together.

He also had a special place in his heart for his loyal dogs; Roxy, Sandy, and Molly, who were his constant companions and brought him endless comfort and joy.

At his core, Silas was a man devoted to his family. His greatest pride was in raising his children with unwavering values; honesty, hard work, and compassion. He didn’t just speak these virtues; he lived them every day. His children and grandchildren are a living reflection of his love, strength, and wisdom.

Silas had a knack for holding onto things, little odds and ends, bits and pieces he thought might come in handy someday. His home was filled with these treasures, each carrying a story or a purpose. But while he saved the small things, he gave away the big ones. His time, his love, and his generosity. He was the kind of man who would offer whatever he had to help someone else, always with a humble heart and no expectation in return.

To know Silas was to know someone who lived his faith quietly but powerfully. His sense of humor brightened the darkest moments, and his wisdom offered comfort and guidance to all who sought it. He was a steady presence, a source of strength, and a light in the lives of many.

Though Silas may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. His love, laughter, and lessons will echo through the generations, a lasting reminder of a life well lived and deeply loved.

Silas Padilla’s journey was one of passion, purpose, faith and unwavering love. He will be forever missed, always remembered, and eternally cherished.
