Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Emilio; mother Isabell Coats, stepfather Moe Coats; father, Sylviano Atencio, and sister, Aggie Moraga.
She is survived by her children: Andrew (Angela), Diana, Janet (Ben); sisters: Petra, Cathy, Maryann, Terri, Julie; grandchildren: Jazmynn, Gabriel, Selena, Francisco, Andrew; great-grandchildren Lelia, Orson, and Tian.
Throughout her life, Sylvia was known for her vibrant personality and her enjoyment of the simple pleasures that life had to offer. Bowling was one of her favorite pastimes, where she forged lasting friendships and created wonderful memories. She also had a fondness for the thrills of casinos, which brought her excitement and joy. An avid lover of Spanish music, Sylvia often found herself smiling and dancing to the rhythm that resonated deeply with her spirit.
Sylvia had a great appreciation for nature and adventure, frequently enjoying camping trips and cruises, which became opportunities for her to connect with loved ones and create lifelong memories. She embraced life with enthusiasm, and her outgoing nature made her a beloved figure among her family and friends.
Her family meant the world to her; they were the cornerstone of her happiness. Sylvia took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, whom she adored unconditionally. Retiring from the University of New Mexico Hospital, where she worked diligently in medical records, Sylvia viewed this chapter of her career as one of her many successes, allowing her more time to dedicate to her family and the things she loved.
Sylvia had a tender heart for flowers and stuffed animals, which reflected her nurturing spirit. Her home in the North Valley was a sanctuary filled with warmth and love, a place where family gatherings were celebrated, and laughter echoed through the halls.
