Thomas Craig Howell

November 22, 1952 — August 8, 2025

Thomas Craig Howell, a man of heartfelt kindness and creativity, passed away in his home on Friday, August 8, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Thomas is survived by his sister-n-law Barb Howell, and nephew Joshua Howell, who loved his uncle very much, along with Destiny Brock who loved and cared for Craig.

Born on November 22, 1952, at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, Thomas's life was a testament to the power of dedication of work, love of family, and commitment to his Catholic Religion.

In his youth, Thomas had a passion for the mechanics and artistry of life. He found joy in the precision of shooting, the creativity of artwork, and the intricacy of working on cars. His hands were rarely still as he sought to understand and improve the world around him. Alongside his beloved mother, Mary Howell, Thomas embarked on numerous cruises, with a journey to Italy holding a special place in his heart. There, he experienced the unforgettable resonance of the Pope's voice, a memory he cherished deeply.

Thomas's culinary skills were a source of great pride and pleasure. Taught by his mother, cooking was more than sustenance; it was a language of love and a shared tradition that bonded them throughout their lives. His extensive collection of cookbooks was more than a hobby—it was a chronicle of shared moments and flavors that defined family gatherings and quiet evenings at home. He was a lifelong reader, and connoisseur of old movies.

Thomas's academic and professional achievements were marked by his unwavering commitment and compassion. Attaining his bachelor’s degree at the University of New Mexico, was not merely an accomplishment; it was the foundation of a career that allowed him to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. As a Parole Officer, in the New Mexico Corrections Department, Thomas approached his work with a polite firmness and empathy, guiding many onto paths of redemption and renewal. He was a hard worker.

An avid collector, Thomas surrounded himself with the things he loved: guns that spoke to his appreciation for craftsmanship and car parts that reminded him of the joy found in restoration. He had collections of books and movies. These collections were more than possessions; they were narratives of a life lived with intention and a quiet celebration of personal passions.

To describe Thomas as loving, faith-filled, and creative only begins to touch upon the essence of a man whose calm demeanor belied a deep well of thoughtfulness and care. His faith in the Catholic Religion was part of his central character and guided him throughout his life. May his beautiful soul join his precious Mother Mary, and Brother Richard. His presence was a sanctuary for those who knew him, offering a sense of humbleness and peaceful stability in an ever-changing world.

Thomas Craig Howell's legacy is one of love and service, a gentle reminder of the beauty in life's simple pleasures and the importance of nurturing the bonds we share with one another. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the warmth and humble light he brought into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
