With profound sadness we announce the loss of Amado G. Baca of Albuquerque, NM who passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 93.

He was born in Albuquerque on August 2, 1930, to Adolfo M. Baca and Gregorita (Grace) Garcia.  After his Army military service, he married his lifelong companion and dancing partner Mary Lupe Flores on November 28, 1953, at Nuestra Señora de Belén Catholic Church, Belen, Valencia, New Mexico, USA.

Amado retired from ABF and the Teamsters and along with his wife Lupe who had also retired from UNM together began the peaceful bliss and joys of their retirement years together eating out, dancing, travelling, casinos, and watching their grandchildren come into the world and become adults.

Amado was preceded in death by his wife Lupe, brother Eloy Baca, his parents and granddaughter Michelle.  He is survived by his daughters and son, Stephanie, Kenny, and Grace. seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church located at 1860 Griegos Road NW, 87107. Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Amado will be laid to rest on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N. Guadalupe St. 87501.

Maria Guadalupe (Flores) Baca, of Albuquerque New Mexico, affectionately known to all as “Lupe, Mom, Sis, and Grandma” began her eternal journey on October 13, 2020 after a short illness.

Lupe was preceded in the final journey by her parents: Guillermo Flores and Josefita O’Neal Flores, sister Mary Ruth Flores, and brother Alfonso Flores.

Lupe leaves behind her partner in life, Amado Baca, whom she married on November 28, 1953, along with her children: Stephanie, Kenneth, Grace; sisters: Patricia Torres (Abram), Cecilia Fajardo (Nick); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lupe was born September 12, 1932 in Belen, New Mexico to Guillermo Flores and Josefita O’Neal Flores. Lupe was born and raised in Belen, New Mexico; attended Belen High School, and moved to Albuquerque after marriage. Lupe had a blessed life and career, retiring in 1994 to enjoy those remaining years until her illness.

 Lupe enjoyed travel, church, casinos, and her favorite TV shows for entertainment and relaxation. She will be missed. Before her illness she was that kept the annual traditions of getting family together for diners at home or restaurants.

The family would like to thank all the family members, caregivers, and Casa Subina who helped care for Lupe during her illness and final days.
