Caron Crossley Obituary

Caron Ellen Crossley, age 78, of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 after a 21-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Richard Light, Steven Light; beloved husband of 31 years, Gale E. Crossley and son Michael O. Crossley.

Caron is survived by her daughter Cherie’ LaVassaur; 4 grandchildren: Derek LaVassaur, Shane LaVassaur, Victoria LaVassaur, Lilla Bellinger-Crossley; sister Susan Taylor; uncles: Sidney Shoemaker, Ray Seifried, also many cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved and was so proud of.

She was an exceptional woman, wife and especially mother. She had a great sense of humor! She was my best friend, my confidant and teacher. She taught me strength, compassion and kindness. She waited patiently for my children to be born as nothing was more important to her than being a grandmother. Alzheimer’s robbed her of time with them though. What little time she did have, made her the happiest grandma on the planet. I love you Mom so much.

She touched so many lives and will be missed, but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Caron's life will begin on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 9:45am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501 where she will be reunited with her husband. All who loved her are welcome.

I saw her getting tired when a cure was not to be,

I knew I had to let her go because I wanted her to be free.

Seeing her lying there, so peaceful, without pain,

I held her hand in mine and thought,

there’s no wish for her to come back, to suffer again.

Her smile and her laughter was passionate,

even when life was hard,

fighting so many battles, that left me quite alarmed.

So, even though she’s departed,

loving memories will never be futile,

just think of her grinning ear to ear,

happily dancing with her body’s full approval!
