David Charles Jupiter (a.k.a Jupe)

David Charles Jupiter (a.k.a. Jupe) passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his children and grandchildren on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at the age of 67.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ramona Jupiter and sister Clare Jupiter.

Jupe is survived by his children: Caleb Jupiter-Alb, NM, Sarah Jupiter-Alb, NM; siblings: Jane Jupiter Bell, Eric Jupiter, Gayle Jupiter, Karl Jupiter Rhonda), Daniel Jupiter, Jill Jupiter Jones, Anne Jupiter Mitchell (Hank), Omadare Jupiter, Nzinga Jupiter, Steven Jupiter (Tanya), Jerome Jupiter; granddaughters: Alexis Jupiter, Chyara Jupiter, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

David was born in Chicago. Illinois and raised in New Orleans, He worked at the famous Lua and Charlie’s Jazz Club where he began his lifelong love of music. He moved to Albuquerque in 1980. In Albuquerque he worked at the State Scientific Laboratories until he retired in August 2010. After retirement Jupe devoted his time to working in his yard, growing roses, tinkering with his old Dodge truck and his Pontiac Bonneville, grilling ribs, his famous grilled jerk chicken and steaks on his grill. Mostly he enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters, cooking their favorite meals and teasing them.

Jupe always had a friendly smile for everyone. Any occasion was a reason for celebration. His Kindness, humor and generosity was infectious.

He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.

Jupe’s Life Celebration will be held at a later date. He will be interred at the family vault in New Orleans. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Xavier University of New Orleans.
