Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, Felipe Herrera, died with his family at his side on April 14, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years Bertha; son George Herrera; parents: Leonardo and Tomasita Herrera; sister Rosemary Parish; brothers: Flavio, Henry, and Leonardo Jr.
He is survived by his children: Evelyn and husband Ben Valdez, Anna and husband Anthony DeFusco, Phyliss Herrera, Amy and husband Dan Maestas, Phillip and wife Valerie Herrera; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister Agnes Padilla; and many nieces and nephews.
Felipe was born to Leonardo and Tomasita Herrera on August 27, 1924. Felipe served in the army during WWII with the 717th Tank Battalion. He retired from Civil Service and he also retired from General Electric.
Felipe’s Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Mass will take place on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church located at 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW, 87105. Felipe will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.
Felipe's Rosary will be live-streamed on Salazar Mortuary's Facebook page. You do NOT need a Facebook account to view the live-stream. Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church will live-stream Felipe's Mass on their YouTube page. Please click appropriate links below at the scheduled times.
Pallbearers will be Jason Maestas, Kevin Maestas, Michael Herrera, Markus Herrera, Matthew Valdez, and Phillip Herrera.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Antonio Padilla, Michael Tanny, and Chris Valdez, Aric DeFusco, and Antonio Gonzales.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church and/or Norbertine Abbey.
