John C. White, a respected veteran, farmer, and businessman passed away on January 8th, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born in Clovis NM in 1932 and spent much of his life in the community. John served his country honorably as a Commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War.
After his service, John returned to New Mexico to operate his 4,000 acres of land, where he raised wheat, sorghum, and cattle. He was known for his dedication to his land and his commitment to the community. He was a respected member of the agricultural community and a valuable asset to the farmers of the area. He also had an advanced degree from New Mexico State University (Go Aggies!) and used his education in teaching and mentoring the next generation.
John retired from USDA Farm Service after a successful career as a District Director in the FSA in New Mexico and Wyoming, where his dedication and hard work in this role helped many farmers and ranchers in the area.
John was also a successful businessman. He worked as a Real Estate Salesman and later as a Real Estate Broker. He was known for his integrity and his ability to help people.
John was a skilled pilot and enjoyed flying his plane. He and his friend, Ida had a passion for traveling, often taking trips to Mexico in his jeep. He is survived by his son Greg White , 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his nephew Leroy Hunton, niece Johna Elaine Bishop and friend Ida.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In honor of John and his service to his country, a funeral service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on February 24, 2023 at 2:00PM.
John C. White will be remembered as a man of integrity, who lived a life of service to his country and community. He lived a long and fulfilling life, and will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, John.
John will be laid to rest on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 201 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501.
