Louie S. Montaño Obituary

Wonderful husband, great father, and amazing grandpa, Louie S. Montaño, 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his parents Eulogio and Amelia Montaño; brothers: Ernie Montaño, David Montaño, Michael Montaño, James Montaño; sisters: Rita Padilla, Sylvia Montaño, and Bertha Montaño.

Louie is survived by his wife of 60 years Soledad Montaño; sons: Louie Montaño, Jr., Richard Montano and wife Karen; daughter Sandra L. Perez; brothers Paul Montaño, Joseph Montaño, Eddie Montaño and wife Lucia, Manuel Montaño; sisters: Vivian Enriquez, Rosanna Montaño, Linda Rael, Nancy Montaño; grandchildren: Celicia Perez and fiancé David Gutierrez, Cameron Montaño and wife Sarah, Marisol Montaño, Joaquin Montaño; and great grandchild: Noah J. Gutierrez.

Louie retired from Albuquerque Public Schools after 41 years of service. He will be remembered for his athleticism in multiple sports. He had an amazing time in the senior slow pitch softball league, a wonderful experience as a senior olympian, and as a pro amateur champion bowler. 

He was a light in every room. He never missed an opportunity to dance with his wife to his favorite mariachi music. If you knew Louie, you knew you were always welcome. He was a friend to all who knew him and needed him.

Although he is gone, his spirit will live on in every person he encountered. 

Louie's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 8:15am at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church located at 5415 Fortuna Rd. N.W., 87105. Mass will begin at 9:00 am. Louie will be laid to rest following the Mass at San Jose De Armijo Cemetery located at 2957 Arenal Rd SW, 87121.

Pallbearers will be Jose Montaño, Manuel Montaño, Robert Chavez, Sixto Padilla, Joaquin Montaño, and Eddie Montaño.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Montaño, David Gutierrez, and Jesus Aguilar.
