Margaret Saavedra

Margaret Saavedra, a radiant soul who brought light to every room she entered, departed from us peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

Margaret was preceded in death by her father Damian Saavedra, mother Annabelle Saavedra, brother Rudy (Gerald) Saavedra, sister Priscilla Saavedra and son John Saavedra.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives: Damian and Rebecca Gomez, Michael and Sonia Saavedra; grandchildren: Juan Gomez, Britney Gomez, Michael Saavedra, Jr., Flora Saavedra, Alannah Saavedra, Dana Saavedra, and Michael Saavedra

Margaret was born on August 9, 1948, in Los Angeles, California, she spent her life embodying kindness, infecting those around her with her abundant love and unwavering optimism.

Margaret was an inquisitive spirit, known for her engaging conversation and her love for makeup, shopping, and conversating. She had an exceptional fondness for classic movies and could frequently be heard recounting cinematic tales in vivid detail, sparking the imagination of her listeners.

Above all, Margaret cherished her role as a grandma and showered her grandchildren with constant love and thoughtful surprises. This, coupled with her innate ability to find the positive in any situation, truly exemplified her spirit. 

Margaret Carter’s loving and optimistic nature will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, thoughtfulness, and above all her kind heart.

Margaret's Life Celebration will begin with a visitation on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 11:00 am at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Service will begin at 11:30 am. Margaret will be laid to rest following the service at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery located at 2957 Arenal Rd SW, 87121. 

Pallbearers will be Michael Saavedra, Jr., Juan Gomez, Alex Cazares, Ray Jaramillo, Michael Saavedra, and Damian Gomez.
