Ramona "Mona" Gutierrez

Mona Gutierrez passed away peacefully the morning of October 22nd, 2023. 

She was born to Poles (Paul) and Antonia (Tonia) Nunez Armijo in January 1944. Although Mona suffered with dementia for a number of years this relentless illness took a terrible upturn these last two months. Mona was cared for by her sister Frances Armijo, and their wonderful unselfish neighbors Marlene Romero, Cynthia Schade, Elena Garcia and Henrietta Sanchez.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and love of her life George, her son David, and her brother Peter.

Mona is now survived by Frances, grandson Jude, whom she has never met; granddaughter Delaney, whom she helped raise and loved with all her heart; nephew Michael Denman and his loving family; sister-in-law Lugie Armijo; nieces Gina Foster, Stacie Armijo and Valerie Torres; and her very special cousins Steve, Hope and Pete Nunez. She is survived by her estranged son, the Reverand Daniel George Gutierrez, Episcopal Bishop of Philadelphia; and her sister Bertha Denman and husband Fred.

A special thanks to the Harmony Hospice staff for the care and kindness they showed Mona. 

Mona's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 6:00 pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 619 Copper Ave NW, 87102. Mona will be laid to rest following Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102.

Pallbearers are Rene Garcia, Gabriel Denman, Michael Denman, Pete Nunez, Steve Nunez and Bill McCormick.
