Robert "Bob" Martinez Obituary

Robert "Bob" L. Martinez, affectionately known as Father Bob, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the age of 80, in his hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was also born on June 26, 1943. Father Bob was a man whose life was marked by his dedication to his family, his love for building, and his unwavering faith.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Cecilia Martinez; parents Lee Martinez Catalina Martinez.

Bob is survived by his three daughters: Roxanna Arguelles, Rosemarie Griego, Rosella and Mark Nawman; two sisters: Maxine James, Patricia and David Lovato; five grandchildren: Alicia, Eric (Holly), Monica, Joseph, Robert; six great-grandchildren: Mia, Aspen, Daxden, Ashtyn, Bash and Knox.

Father Bob was nick-named by his brothers in the Albuquerque Fire Department, where he worked to support his family. He retired after almost 23 years with fantastic stories of comradery and bravery. The time spent with the fire department allowed him to develop friendships that would last a lifetime.

Bob's hands were skilled in the art of construction; he built houses and crafted cabinets with the precision and care of a true artisan. His love for physical activity was evident in his commitment to exercise, and his passion for horses was a testament to his appreciation for the beauty and strength of these majestic creatures. A man of many interests, he also found joy in the rumble of a classic car's engine and the tranquility of fishing and camping in the great outdoors.

In the church community, Father Bob was a revered confirmation teacher, guiding many young lives with his wisdom and kindness. His sense of humor, generosity, and courage made him a beloved figure, not only within his congregation but also among all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Married for 53 years, Bob was the epitome of a loving husband. He and his wife, Cecilia shared a love for dance, moving gracefully together to the music they both adored. Their partnership was a dance of love and support, a testament to their devotion to one another.

Father Bob's love for sweets and home-cooked meals was well-known, and his laughter was a frequent and heartwarming presence at family gatherings. He was the definition of a provider, always ensuring that his family was cared for and supported in every possible way.

As we remember Bob, we celebrate a life lived with joy, a life of service, and a life filled with love. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
