Roger Padilla, Jr. Obituary

Roger Padilla, Jr., age 71, of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

Roger is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Padilla and his parents Roger Padilla, Sr. and Cecilia Padilla.

He leaves behind his five children: Diane Padilla and husband Andrew, Roger Padilla, III, Desirae Padilla, Lorie Holguin and life partner Ruben, Andrew Palmer and life partner Annalee, and raised one grandchild as his own, Christina Ramirez. He is also survived by his brother and sisters: Johnny and wife Sandra Padilla, Feliz and husband Isaac Baca, Bernadette and husband Freddie Chavez, Johnny Chavez, Marlene and husband Richard Hernandez, Sharon Padilla, Robert Padilla, Jeanette Lopez, Ronald and wife Susan Padilla, Donald Padilla, Antoinette Padilla, and Gary Padilla; he was proud of his 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was born on January 18, 1952, he was a man whose laughter and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a beloved husband, cherished father and grandfather, and respected friend and member of the community.

Roger's entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate the popular Five Points Bingo, where he not only ran a successful business but also cultivated a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all. His involvement in associations related to his business showed his dedication to his work and the community he served.

A man of diverse interests, Roger was known for his love of his puppies, who were his loyal companions through the years. Roger loved watching his great grandchildren play sports and he could often be found on the fields. He was a proud uncle that cheered on his nephew who plays on the New Mexico Aggies; and liked watching his football team the San Francisco 49ers; he would watch with the same enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life. His passion for collecting was evident in his impressive array of coins and bills. In his spare time, he was an avid Bingo player and a skilled poker/blackjack player. He was known for his sharp mind and the friendly banter that accompanied every game.

Roger's culinary tastes were a reflection of his heritage, with a particular fondness for green chile stew, beans, and tortillas. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as a good meal shared with family and friends. Spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Above all, Roger's purpose in life was deeply rooted in being a good husband and living wholeheartedly for his family. Those who knew Roger will remember him as funny, loving, and generous. His infectious laughter could light up a room, and his warmth and kindness never failed to lift the spirits of those around him. His presence was a gift, and his memory will continue to inspire laughter and love in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

As we say farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the legacy he has left and the indelible mark he has made on our lives. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on through the countless memories he has created with all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Roger's Life Celebration will begin with a Mass on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church located at 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW, 87105. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am. Roger will be laid to rest following the Rosary at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, 87102.

Pallbearers will be Abel Baca, III, Andrew Muniz, Jr., Antonio Lopez, and Jacob Muniz.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Antonio Correa.
