Sylvia Hurbina

Sylvia Hurbina, beloved by all who knew her, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

She was born on April 9, 1938, in Albuquerque, New Mexico and lived a life characterized by kindness, generosity, and creativity.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Andres Hurbina, son Juan Hurbina, and twins Christopher and Christina.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters: Ramona Ayala, Patsy and husband Paul Gutierrez, Lavern Hurbina, Marcie Madrid, Frances Hurbina, Pauline Hurbina, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Sylvia was known for her love of Yahtzee, a game she played with a competitive spirit and a contagious joy. Her creativity shone through in her crocheting, where she crafted beautiful, intricate pieces that were treasured by all who received them. Puzzles were another of Sylvia's passions, her sharp mind always eager for a challenge.

Her love for her family was evident in the joy she derived from watching the children in her family play sports. Sylvia was a constant presence at their games, cheering them on with a smile that was as warm as the New Mexico sun. Her love and support were an inspiration to them, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Sylvia was a woman of immense kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she touched the lives of many with her selfless spirit. Creative in her pursuits and generous in her love, Sylvia was a beacon of positivity in the lives of those around her.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Sylvia Hurbina will be dearly missed, but her legacy of kindness, generosity, and creativity will continue to inspire.

Sylvia's Life Celebration will begin with a Visitation on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 5:30 pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St SW, 87102. Service will begin at 6:00 pm. Reception will follow the Life Celebration at Sylvia's home.
